HBP #4: Earl Grey Bread with Brown Sugar Filling

Image
As Sarawakians, we would have the annual harvest festival that is celebrated nationwide. So, I attempted to make flavored bread with brown sugar filling. Here's how... Liquid Infusion Process For the infused liquid, I used earl grey tea bags from Ahmad Tea. The process of infusion takes overnight so before you bake, you need to prepare this the night before. All you need is cold milk or cold water.  I used 200ml of cold full cream milk and put a bag of earl grey in it. Cover the top of the container with cling film and leave them overnight in the fridge. You may use it the next morning or next baking day.  If you are baking with water, then replace milk with cold water. It is simple. No sweat! Ingredients --- Part A: Dough Infused milk           180ml Yeast           6gm Salt           6gm Sugar           20gm Olive Oil          15gm ...

Home Baking Project by Gabrielle

This year, our country Malaysia is facing yet another COVID-19 crisis. Last year when everything started, our country acted fast and their speedy decision aided us in managing and controlling the numbers. However, we had a change in government and no matter how hard they tried, things just didn't improve. And here we are, MCO 3.0. Although my state Sarawak is under CMCO as opposed to total MCO in other states, we are trying hard to find things to make our daily lives at home as interesting as possible so we don't get tempted to go out.  Alright. That's enough of my ranting about how my country's government had lost sight of things. Time to share my Home Baking Project or so I called HBP.  I've never thought of baking. Before, I tried making pies but those experiences made me fearful instead of confident. I failed many times and there didn't seem to any remedial in sight. So, I stopped. I also realized the reason of my failures were because I lacked equipment, mo...

memory of my first love

memory of my first love i would like to thank you for letting me go. because i knew it was not meant to be, but i let it happened anyway.       back in high school, i had always been curious how people actually survive relationships. as awkward as any teenage, i couldn't even hold a proper conversation with a close friend. this may come as a surprised because i had always been the chatty one. but honestly, i was never the center of any conversation. i was merely an avid and attentive participant, to keep the conversation going. not really the type of person who start any meaningful or memorable conversation.  that same curiosity got the better of me. almost everyone around me was either with someone or had someone. most of them go around parading their break-up or still-together badges. to be honest, i wondered how and what a relationship meant. i saw couple huddled together, talking for hours. the only person i could talk to for hours was myself. and i had to work r...
